Why use this when my banking app can make a QR?
Your banking app only makes a QR for your own account, on your phone. This is for the times that does not cover: building one into a website, app, or POS checkout; designing it into a receipt, invoice, poster, or flyer on your computer; making a code for someone else from just their number; or generating many at once. You get a downloadable image instead of a phone screenshot.
What is the difference between QR only and full slip?
QR only downloads the bare code (PNG or SVG) to drop into your own design, document, or app. Full slip downloads the familiar Thai QR Payment card, with the header, the recipient name, and the masked number, ready to share or print as-is.
Is my number or amount sent to a server?
No. The PromptPay payload and the QR image are built entirely in your browser, so the mobile number, national ID, and amount never leave your device.
Which apps can scan this QR code?
Any Thai mobile banking app that supports PromptPay can scan it, including the bank apps and wallets that read the standard Bank of Thailand QR. The person scanning transfers to the number or ID you encoded.
What is the difference between leaving the amount empty and setting one?
An empty amount makes a static, reusable QR: the payer types the amount themselves and can scan it again later. Setting an amount makes a one-time dynamic QR with the value already filled in, handy for a specific bill.
Can I use a national ID instead of a phone number?
Yes. Switch the proxy type to National ID and enter the 13-digit number registered with PromptPay. A mobile number is normalised to its international form, and a national ID is encoded as-is.
What is the long code shown under the QR?
That is the raw EMVCo payload, the exact text the QR encodes. It includes the PromptPay identifier, your proxy, the amount if set, and a CRC checksum at the end so a reader can detect a corrupted scan. Copy it to test or to render the QR inside your own system.
