    Common questions

    Are these real chassis numbers?

No. Every VIN is randomly generated in your browser with a valid check digit, for testing and form validation. They are not real vehicle identification numbers and do not match any registered motorcycle.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Both generation and validation run entirely in your browser, so nothing you generate or paste leaves your device.

What makes a chassis number valid?

It follows the ISO 3779 VIN standard: exactly 17 characters, no letters I, O, or Q, a correct check digit at position 9, a valid model-year code at position 10, and a 6-digit serial number at positions 12 to 17.

How is the check digit calculated?

Each character is turned into a number using the standard VIN transliteration table, multiplied by its position weight, and summed. The remainder of that sum divided by 11 is the check digit at position 9, written as X when the remainder is 10.

Can I generate many at once?

Yes. Pick 1, 5, 10, 25, or 100 and copy the whole list to seed a database or fill test fixtures in one step.
